Summary

Sketches (2017 - present) is an ongoing transmedia project about reconstructing meaning of East-African Asian displacement in the 1970s. It synthesises my family archives and oral histories - and secondary archive sources - with a fiction narrative that includes physical charcoal sketches.

It extends the meaning of the film from first-generation immigration to second-generation immigration over 18 tracks.

The mixtape similarly mixes oral history with biographical storytelling.

The character in Sketches was silent. In Charcoal, he speaks.
